Clover Bar Generating Station Model
1969
This is a model of the first 165 MW turbine-generator installed at the Clover Bar Generating Station. Units 1 & 2, both 165 MW generators supplied by Escher Wyss of Switzerland and running on gas-fired steam, were built between 1967 and 1969.
In 2007 the Cloverbar plant was demolished, as the price of natural gas, and the relatively poor thermal efficiencies of the Cloverbar units rendered the plant no longer economical. Soon after, construction began on the Cloverbar Energy Centre that comprised three highly efficient GE simple-cycle natural gas turbines with a total capability of 243 MW
This model was supplied by Escher Wyss and built to a scale of 1/4" = 1 foot.
