About EPHF

EPHF Mission

The Edmonton Power Historical Foundation is a non-profit society dedicated to preserving the history of electric power in the City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta, for the education and entertainment of current and future generations, by collecting, restoring and displaying related artifacts and documents.

About Us

In the late 1980's, some two dozen Edmonton Power employees were asked to consider being involved in the publication of a history booklet which would document the growth of Edmonton Power.  As the project progressed, it became clear that it would take much more than a booklet to properly present the history of a company as rich and diverse as Edmonton Power.

The Edmonton Power Historical Foundation was established as a non-profit society in November, 1989, with the primary objective being:

"To encourage and foster a greater interest and awareness of the history of the generation, transmission, distribution and usage of electrical power in the City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta."

The Foundation's current mission goes beyond the original ties to Edmonton Power, now focusing its energies on a variety of activities that are all geared towards preserving the history of the industry in general, and how it has helped shape the economy of the Province of Alberta.  Its goals are stated as:

    1. Collect and restore artifacts related to the electric power industry

    2. Establish a museum for public display of historical artifacts

    3. Collect and Catalog hisotrical information regarding the history of the electrical power industry

    4. Establish a public repository of information regarding the history of the electrical power industry

    5. Provide a forum for interaction of those interested in electrical power industry history

Board of Directors

The Foundation's Board of Directors is made up of nine members, each elected for a two-year term.  Each year, approximately half of the Board members' terms expire and the new members are elected at the Annual Membership Meeting, held in October.
